Beyond the bank: BDO Foundation renews another lifeline in Negros Oriental

Crowded waiting areas, worn-down buildings, and poorly ventilated consultation rooms are what one would witness when visiting the old La Libertad Primary Care Facility (PCF). “The paint was peeling and the whole space felt like it was no longer conducive to healing and recovery,” shared Eleanor Acabo, branch head of BDO Network Bank Negros Oriental-Guihulngan branch, as she described her visit to their local health center.

As a member of the community, she felt the need to help in her own way. This is what inspired her to recommend the health center for rehabilitation through the program of BDO Foundation.

BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, has a long-standing program focused on the rehabilitation of health centers. The organization has since renovated more than 210 rural health units across the country and is continuously finding new facilities to rehabilitate through the support of BDO and BDO Network bank branches.

A glimmer of hope seen through the hard work of the health workers

“Despite the grim circumstances of the facility, we saw the unfailing commitment of our health care professionals. They served patients one by one and ensured that all were attended to,” shared Acabo.

The primary care facility serves as the first line of defense of communities in maintaining the overall health and wellness of its constituents. Patients run to the health center for routine check-ups, immunizations, and preventive health care. Oftentimes, these facilities lack the capacity to renovate, especially after being struck by natural calamities.

“We knew then that the town of La Libertad deserved more – better. A renewed facility will not only help provide better health care, but it will also serve as a glimmer of hope to our community,” she concluded.

BDO Foundation recognizes this gap by partnering with the respective local government units and finding a middle ground in renovating the health facility that will best serve its patients.

Shared efforts lead to bigger results

After months of hard work from the officers of the health center, leaders from the local government unit, and employees of BDO Foundation and BDO Network bank, the La Libertad (PCF) was rehabilitated and is now ready to serve its constituents of over 41,000 individuals.

Like previous renovation projects of the foundation, the mission was to enhance the experience of both health workers and patients through improved interiors and exteriors. The foundation also added a play area for kids and a private breastfeeding area for nursing mothers – common additions to bigger health centers to ensure that all kinds of patients are comfortable and included.

“The recently renovated facility is more than just a structure. It is an example of what can be achieved when people and organizations work together for a bigger cause,” Acabo concluded.

BDO Foundation is steadfast in its mission in providing support for health centers and helping strengthen the national health care delivery system. Prior to the turnover of the La Libertad PCF, the foundation rehabilitated and turned over several other rural health units in Negros Oriental, namely, Dauin Primary Care Facility, Mabinay Rural Health Unit, and Santa Catalina Rural Health Unit.

25 Years of Innovation: How PSAHelpline.ph Transformed Access to PSA Certificates for Filipinos Nationwide

This year, PSAHelpline.ph celebrates 25 years of pioneering innovation and service excellence in helping Filipinos conveniently access their PSA certificates—proof of its commitment to continuously improving how civil registry documents are delivered across the country.

Launched in 2000 as NSO Helpline Plus, the service is the first and longest-running PSA certificate ordering and delivery platform in the country. What began as a groundbreaking call-in hotline (737-1111) quickly became a trusted solution for millions of Filipinos seeking a more accessible and secure way to request birth, marriage, and death certificates, as well as Certificates of No Marriage (CENOMAR). By 2011, the service expanded its reach and convenience through the launch of its official website, allowing users to place orders online using desktops, laptops, tablets, or mobile phones—without the need to leave home.

In 2013, following the creation of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) from the former National Statistics Office (NSO), the service was officially renamed PSAHelpline.ph. The rebranding reflected the platform’s strengthened role as a reliable digital partner of the PSA and marked a new phase in its commitment to making vital documents more accessible to Filipinos across the country. Today, PSAHelpline.ph continues to lead the way in digital service innovation, now also offering the Certificate of No Death (CENODEATH) and PSA certificates with QR codes for improved authenticity and verification.

Since then, PSAHelpline.ph has grown into a fully digital, nationwide platform trusted by millions. From its beginnings as a call-in service, it has continuously improved its features and operations. Today, users can conveniently order their PSA birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate, CENOMAR, or CENODEATH online without the need for a PSA online appointment. The process is simple: visit www.PSAHelpline.ph, fill out the online form, choose your preferred payment method (over-the-counter, mobile wallet, credit/debit card, or online banking), and wait for your PSA delivery to arrive.

Delivery takes approximately 2 to 3 business days within Metro Manila and 3 to 8 business days for provincial addresses. Users can track their orders in real-time through the website.

Security and personal data protection are at the heart of PSAHelpline.ph’s operations. To safeguard sensitive information, the platform has implemented strict identity verification and delivery protocols. Applicants are encouraged to personally receive their documents. Alternatively, they may opt to claim their PSA certificate from select National Book Store and Robinsons Department Store branches—offering flexibility for those with unpredictable schedules.

PSAHelpline.ph also recently began issuing PSA certificates with QR codes, adding another layer of document security and making verification easier for institutions and individuals alike.

What began as a bold idea 25 years ago has grown into the most reliable PSA certificate online ordering and delivery service in the country. With responsive customer service via hotline (Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM) and email support available 24/7, PSAHelpline.ph has not only made access to vital records more convenient, but also more dependable than ever before.

PSAHelpline.ph is proud to have been a trusted partner of the Philippine Statistics Authority for a quarter of a century—offering a fast, secure, and innovative way to get your PSA certificates online.
