[NATIONWIDE] Where can you donate your old clothes?

Did you know that you can donate your old clothes to H&M?

H&M Philippines encourages customers to bring and donate their old clothes (whether in good or bad condition) in exchange for store discount vouchers. This is their way of helping lessen the garbage brought about by the fashion industry. After all, fashion is too precious to end up in the landfills.

How to donate?

There is no minimum number of pieces. You just have to fill a paper bag with old clothing (no matter what brand or condition) and bring to any H&M store nationwide.

However, please take note that there is a limit of only 2 vouchers per customer per day regardless of how much clothes you are donating. (Approximately one bag full of clothes is equal to one 15% discount voucher)

If you are curious what does H&M does with these donated clothes, these old garments are collected by their partner, I:Collect. These are then sorted into three categories:

  • Rewear – old clothes that are still in good condition and can be resold.
  • Reuse – old clothes and textiles that can be reused and turned into other materials like cleaning cloths.
  • Recycle – everything else is turned into textile fibers, and used for things like insulation.
The proceeds are donated to H&M Foundation and split between social projects and recycling projects. Also, for every kilogram of garment collected, I:Collect donates 0.02 euros UNICEF Philippines. You can read more about it here

So, what are you waiting for? It's about time we all get stylish yet responsible Filipino citizens. Whether you are from Manila, Cebu, Davao or Bacolod, you can now donate your old clothes to any H&M branch in the Philippines.

UPDATE: I just donated another bag last August 17, 2018. So, for those who are asking -- yes, this is still ongoing. Also, here's the voucher that they are giving away.

  1. This sounds like a lovely idea. It's great that H & M has thought of this. Clothes, whether old or new, are something that could help a lot of people. I wonder how long this campaign would last. I'll tell my friends.

    1. Hi Madz!

I believe this is an ongoing project. They had it for several years already and not just in the Philippines. Thank you for sharing this to your friends. It is a very practical idea to help our environment.

    2. Is it only in the Philippines? Do they have a project like this in China? I hate to carry all my old clothings only to donate at H&M Philippines. If I can do it in China, then my baggage allowance will be best allocated for something else. I have about 400 kilograms of used and old clothings that needs to be put into good use. Thanks.

    3. It is best to get in touch with your local branch in China but according to their website. This is a worldwide campaign.

  2. This is a good project by H & M. I support groups and organizations that help protect the environment. I even teach my young kids how they can "be green." I hope this is an ongoing project since I still have a lot of clothes to donate. ;)

  5. This is great, I actually saw the bin on Robinsons Manila. I have a question, before I dispose my old clothes, do I need to ask for assistance so I can get the voucher? Is that the procedure?

    1. Yes, just inform any store attendant. Usually the cashier near the bin will assist you.

  23. They have Stopped this program [temporarily] - during the pandemic up until now March 13, 2022 - according to Greta an agent I called thru their hotline 180082228888. Their reason is SECURITY and PRIVACY issue? you are kidding me right? Sustainability program like this and efforts in saving our environment is NEVER a security or privacy issue - nor an issue of the Pandemic as you can still observe social distancing/wearing of masks and every store with every customer they entertain have complete vaccination shots already - virus is only spread through droplets and not via clothes in a bag. Recycling must never stop and big companies like them should continue their environmental efforts regardless of any external situation. I am calling for others who are concerned in saving mother earth to urge H&M and other companies NOT to stop or halt programs like this. I am actually very disappointed with how things are now that H&M stopped their sustainability program just because of Security/Privacy reasons. I do not get it
