How to Prevent Heatstroke in Dogs?

The summer heat is definitely here. Everybody is just posting and shouting out in their social media accounts how hot it is nowadays.

According to PAGASA, the heat index registered at 39 degrees last March 8 and 9. In this case, we are advised to be careful as extreme heat can affect not just us but our dogs and other pets as well.

Based on studies, more than 100 deaths of dogs is reported every year due to heatstroke. This condition happens when our dogs are unable to regulate their body temperature. Early signs include inability or unwillingness to move around. Other signs of heatstroke in dogs include drooling, reddened gums, vomiting, diarrhea, mental dullness or loss of consciousness, uncoordinated movement, and collapse.

We may not be able to control the temperature however, we can still do something to prevent heatstroke from happening to us and our dogs. Here are reminders to all pet owners:

1. Always make sure your pets have available clean drinking water to avoid dehydration.

2. Make sure they are not directly under the sun.

3. If you leave them inside the room alone with no cooling device (e.g. fan, aircon) make sure that you leave a wet towel where they can lie down on. You can also leave the windows open if that's possible.

4. Give more frequent baths.

5. Keep in mind our pets are highly prone to heatstroke.

We must all remember that if we find it hot, so do our pets. Let us all be responsible pet owners, share the word and let's go for zero casualty due to heatstroke this summer.

4 Ways to Fill the Void from Crash Landing On You

We're not really Kdrama fans but after watching Crash Landing On You, we can definitely say that we have crossed the other side.

If you're not sure what we're talking about, Crash Landing on You is a South Korean television series directed by Lee Jeong-hyo and featuring Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin, Kim Jung-hyun, and Seo Ji-hye. It is about a South Korean woman who accidentally crash-lands in North Korea. It aired on tvN in South Korea and on Netflix.

Anyway, it has been days since we finished watching the final episode but we still can't get over thinking about Captain Ri.

So, if you are feeling a bit empty and you are missing Team #Riri, here are 4 ways that can help you "move on."

1. Listen to Ri Jeong Hyeok's song for his brother. You can play this while working or before sleeping and you can dream about Captain Ri. It's a one-hour continuous loop so you don't need to worry about hitting the playback button again.

2. Check out these GIFs that you can send to your family and friends. There are a lot of GIFs available online and here are some of our favorites:

3. Get a glimpse of the Behind the Scenes of Crash Landing on You. You'd be able to appreciate the show more after watching these exclusive behind the scenes. Let us share with you some that you shouldn't miss.

4. Don't miss Hyun Bin's other TV series on Netflix and here's what you can add to your watchlist:
  • Memories of the Alhambra - While searching for the cryptic creator of an innovative augmented reality game, Yoo Jin Woo an investment firm executive played by Hyun bin meets a woman who runs a hostel in Spain.
  • Hyde, Jekyll, Me - This is about chaebol executive with a split personality spars with a circus leader determined to save her troupe, which he's trying to eject from his theme park.

  • Secret Garden - A wealthy man and a poor stunt girl fall in love. But things get complicated when their souls become inexplicably swapped and dark secrets surface. This is where Hyun Bin won the Top Excellence Award, Actor in a Drama Special and the Netizen Popularity Award at the SBS Drama Awards in 2010.

Anyway, do you have any other ideas or suggestions on how we can move on? Or better yet can we not move on and just watch the series again?

Share your thoughts and feel free to comment below. :)

Make Your Dream of Becoming a Book Author Come True

Are you an aspiring author?

Have you always dreamed of writing your own book?

Do you believe that you have a story to share?

---------------------------

Books are my best friends. When I was a little girl, my favorite past time was reading. I remember spending a lot of time reading the book, Heidi by Johanna Spyri. It was my first storybook given to me by mom and it was my favorite.

When I grew older, I enjoyed Harry Potter and Twilight. While reading, I feel like that I am totally in another world and it was a great way to escape the pressures of my teenage years.

When life got more serious and I have problems, I still read books especially when I feel so down and sad. I was able to get through my first heartbreak by reading a lot. Some books that made a huge impact on me were, Purpose Driven Life, Rich Dad and Poor Dad, The Art of Emotions (which I got from St. Paul's and I don't remember the author) and surprisingly, The Confessions of a Shopaholic

There has always been a perfect book for every stage of my life. Whether it is to teach a lesson, help me understand what's happening, to give hope and inspiration or even to simply entertain. I found comfort and happiness by reading. Books are indeed gifts to us by the authors.

And this is also what I also want to do -- SHARE THIS GIFT. This is reason why I have always wanted to write my own book.

And the good news? My first book will be available this year. I am co-authoring a book for moms along with Asia's Book Writing Coach, Sha Nacino and 40+ individuals from different walks of life and location. There's no title yet but will keep you posted. :)

It feels so surreal but this dream of writing of my own is slowly taking shape and that I am grateful. Just like what José Martí said, a man should ought to "Have a child, plant a tree or write a book" before he dies. :)

Anyway, if you are also dreaming of writing your own book, then I'd like to encourage you to pursue that dream. It may seem huge and a bit overwhelming but with the right guidance and support, you can definitely make that dream come true.

To get you started, I'd like to invite you to join the WRITE A BOOK ONLINE SUMMIT on February 28-29, 2020. It's FREE and since it's online then you can join from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.
