The Dangers of Side Effects Presented as Main Effects

In the medical world, proper use of words is highly called for because a simple mistake could complicate things usually unwanted for the patients. Because this field has full of jargons that are mostly too technical to not easily be sifted and digested by the general public, putting them in a layman’s term is indeed helpful.

A good example of which are the words “side effect” and “main effect”. These, are more often than not, interchanged or used instead of the other. Doing so is not just wrong but also dangerous to the people’s health.

A side effect of any substance pertains to the result beyond the main or primary action that is intended by the physician giving drug prescription. The doctor, likewise, foresees this extra consequence.

For instance, the patient might not be conscious of the side effect of unwanted hair growth elsewhere on the body while using vasodilator drug called Minoxidil to treat hypertension. The physician, nevertheless, is very well aware of it, as well as other implications, such as burning or irritation of the eye, itching, and redness or irritation at the treated area. By and large, doctors suggest that patients should ignore the side effects unless serious and often alert the sick persons about their likelihood.

But not all the side effects are boon. They are bane, too, hence, they are often used as a therapeutic benefit in the pharmaceutical industry. Like the Minoxidil which, initially was developed to treat high blood pressure. People taking it reported an unusual side effect: Hair began to grow on various parts of their bodies. In this case, the downside of the drug is controlled and employed for a beneficial and therapeutic effect judiciously. It is noted that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved prescription of two percent (2%) Minoxidil topical solution for hair loss in men in 1988 and for women in 1992.

An adverse effect, on the other hand, is identified as an outcome wherein the reaction occurs over and beyond the main and wanted action of a medicine. Both the physician and the patient don’t know about it as a consequence of taking such treatment. It can happen simply due to incorrect dosage. Undesirably, this is very harmful as it can exacerbate the prognosis of the disease. Occasionally, if the adverse effect is too serious, there might be a need for hospitalization.

Just like the Sildenafil Citrate— a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Its most common adverse reactions (≥ 2%) include headache, flushing, dyspepsia, abnormal vision, nasal congestion, back pain, myalgia, nausea, dizziness, and rash. Patients should seek emergency treatment if an erection lasts over four hours. Patients should stop Sildenafil Citrate and seek medical care if a sudden decrease or loss of hearing and also that of vision in one or both eyes.

Since side effects paired with adverse effects can be fatal and need to be reversed or given antidote immediately, a very extra cautious effort not to interchange them with the main effects in the prescription process must be always observed. After all, it’s the lives of patients at stake here.

It’s ironic to note that people who seek treatments for their ailments or to prolong their lives become sicker or morbidly end up six feet underground simply because of such medical error. So, it’s still best to deal with health conditions like hair loss the natural way, especially with NOVUHAIR that offers the safe and natural effects.

With 19 natural ingredients—mostly standardized herbal extracts, essential oils and co-factor nutrients—it does not only help prevent the hair loss malady, but also aid in stimulating growth of the “crowning glory.” Set aside those chemical-based topical scalp solutions out there. Top 5 Hair Problems and Suggested Solutions

It has been said that the hair is a person's "crowning glory." May it be long, short, curly, or straight, the hair plays a major part of one's identity and character. It is the main reason why it is given due importance and the strong need to take good care of it. However, no matter how much we give our best, hair problems still arise.

Here are the Top 5 Hair Problems and Suggested Solutions:

1. Hair Loss or Excessive Hair Fall - This is one of the most common hair problems experienced by both men and women. This is attributed to a variety of causes such as stress, pregnancy, too much vitamin A, lack of iron and protein and in serious cases, autoimmune diseases such as alopecia and lupus. Certain medications and chemotherapy are also known to cause hair loss.

Suggested Solutions: Depending on the cause, one can consider these solutions to address the problem:
  • For stress, having enough sleep is helpful since sleeping allows hair to repair and regenerate.
  • It is also very important to get the proper nutrition since having healthy hair and scalp is dependent on what the person eats. Iron and protein-rich food can help strengthen one's hair.
  • For pregnancy-related hair loss, one can expect to see improvements after giving birth.
  • If it is caused by alopecia, lupus or other serious medical condition, it is highly recommended for one to see a health professional for appropriate intervention.

2. Hair Damage - Too much sun exposure and extremely high temperature brought by hairdryers can take their toll on one's hair strands. The heat drains the moisture of one's hair causing breakage or split ends. For swimmers and people who love going to the beach, exposure to chlorine and saltwater can also pose serious hair damage. Over styling, perming and the use of other hair chemicals are also known causes.

Suggested Solutions: Look for a gentle shampoo and a conditioner that can help infuse moisture. Minimizing the use of hairdryers, hair irons and products that are made of strong chemicals also helps. To protect one's hair and scalp, the use of a hat to avoid direct sun exposure is recommended. For swimmers, one can opt to use a bathing cap to protect one's hair.

3.  Dry Scalp and Dandruff - Dry scalp is a condition when the skin has too little moisture which irritates the scalp and causing it to flake off. Dandruff, on the other hand, is caused by too much oil on the scalp which causes skin cells to build up and then shed more quickly than usual.

Suggested Solutions: Use a shampoo that is specifically made to address dry scalp and dandruff problems. You can check the complete list of the best shampoos for dry scalp and dandruff, here. After using a medicated shampoo for a month but the scalp's condition does not improve, it is highly recommended for one to see a doctor to possibly rule out other skin problems such as psoriasis or eczema.

4. Premature Graying- Though gray hair is associated with aging, this also occurs in younger individuals who are in their early 20s. According to WebMD, premature graying occurs when color-producing cells stop producing pigment. Recent studies show that stress is not the number one factor causing it but it is caused more by a genetic or vitamin deficiency problem.

Suggested Solutions: To address vitamin deficiency, take vitamin B12 supplements. It is also recommended to increase the intake of food high in vitamin B12 such as red meat, liver, mackerel, shrimps, mussels, and egg. Temporarily, one can also opt to conceal gray hair through the hair coloring treatments or hair highlighters.

5. Head Lice and Nits - This problem occurs irrespective of age or gender but it is most common to children aged 3-14. Head lice are wingless insects that are living off through the human's blood from the scalp. They reproduce so quickly by laying eggs called nits. Among all the hair care problems, head lice infestation is the most serious since it is highly contagious. Thus, it is must be addressed as soon as possible.

Suggested Solutions: The use of a nit comb and nitpicking is the most effective way to get rid of head lice. In case one does not have the time to do so, home remedies such as the use of vinegar and mineral oil mixture can be an alternative solution. It is fairly easy and effective. There are also medicated shampoos for head lice available in the market.

How about you? Do you know any other solutions to these common hair care problems?

Stress, Hair Loss and Unproductivity - How to win against it?

I admit I was so stressed for the past few months. Work, family-related concerns and personal issues had taken a toll on me that it started to affect my productivity.

Striking a life balance is not an easy task. It requires hard work and dedication which sometimes can be strenuous or even impossible to achieve. It led to immune deficiency. I started getting sick which later on, caused other parts of my body to get affected like I had an unnatural amount hair loss.

I started reading about hair loss caused by stress and found out that at its peak, our white blood cells attack no less than the follicles, thus causing alopecia. What’s more, anxiety could drive your hair into a prolonged resting phase, which is called telogen effluviumSince this is very alarming, I decided to take action.

Here are some natural ways for us to destress:

1. Get enough sleep. Never underestimate the power of sleep. If you feel that you are over your head in dealing with anxieties, choose to rest it off for a while and recharge.

2. Exercise and have an active lifestyle. Let’s get physical to de-stress. It helps release endorphins, or what is known as the happy hormones, that can be beneficial in relieving the tension.

3. Have fun and reward yourself. Watch the timeless story of Tony and Maria and their fateful love affair as the electrifying classic WEST SIDE STORY musical premieres at The Theatre at Solaire on August 10. Read more on http://www.novuhair.com/2017/07/novuhair-natures-answer-to-hair-loss-supports-west-side-story-musical-at-the-theatre-solaire/

4. Eat more fruits and veggies. Having these as a staple in your diet will bolster your immunity from disease, which in turn, knock out stress. We can all benefit from the vitamins and minerals of the healthy food we consume.

It’s best to complement these simple regimens with a topical solution that’s safe to keep your crowning glory at its robust state. Novuhair Summer Hair Care Tips

I confess that summer is not my favorite season. No matter how much I love going to the beach, I don't enjoy being under the heat of the sun. Whenever we visit, I would rather enjoy the salty smell of the sea breeze under a beach hut and try avoiding the summer sun as much as I could.

After all, spending extended hours under the extreme summer sun can pose serious dangers to our hair and scalp. It is the same UV rays that bring damage to our skin without proper protection can equally hurt your hair and scalp.

Below are some of the problems your hair can encounter during the season:

  • Split-Ends - UV rays and extremely high temperature can take their toll on your strands. The heat drains the moisture of your hair out causing breakage.
  • Double Trouble – Rebonded or permed hair needs extra attention as high temperature well as humidity disrupts the cuticle breaking some of the chemical bonds that keep the hair straight or curls and roughing up the cuticle, taking away shine and smoothness.
  • Scalp problem – Scalp may also get sun-burned if you don’t use cover-ups for your head.
  • Grease problem – Summer sun and humidity can bring extra grease on your hair, leaving it vulnerable to damage.
  • Chlorine Stress – Swimming in the pool subjects your hair to chlorine. The outer layers of the cuticle of the hair opens up when you swim and chlorinated water seeps into the center of the hair thus making your hair more brittle.
  • Excessive Salt Water – Salt water can cause the same damage as chlorinated ones. Salt water dries on the hair it creates a high-saline solution which can build up and cause hair to feel dry, weighed down and hard to manage.
However for instances that we really can't avoid going out or for others who really loves the sun, salt and the sea, we don't need to worry because all these problems can be addressed by these simple hair care tips.

1. Keeping your hair clean and showered after each activity.

How to Manage Long Hair During Summer

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% mine.

Having long hair during summer may not be the best idea. With the heat, sun, and humidity, one may just simply resort to immediately cut his or her hair short. However, for someone like me who does not want to really have short hair, these tips have been helpful on how to manage long hair this summer time.

Please note that some tips are also applicable even if you have short hair.

1. Avoid blow drying.

Since hair is all stressed due to the summer heat. We should try as much as we could to reduce its exposure to heat and thus, avoiding blow drying unless it is completely necessary. Summertime is the best time to simply air-dry your hair and go for the natural look.

2. Get as much protection.

Yes, you read that right. We need to protect our hair by covering it using a hat or scarf which would also help you retain moisture for your hair. There are also some shampoos available in the market that offers UV protection or simply put a little sunscreen lotion.

3. Use wide tooth comb instead of a regular brush.

Using a wide tooth comb is less harsh when you're untangling hair locks. Thereby, significantly reduces the stress we put on our crown of glory.

4. Put hair up in loose and comfortable styles using ponytails.

Ponytail does a good job in keeping your hair under control while minimizing its exposure to the sun. Drawstring ponytail is my personal favorite because it makes styling so easy.

Stay Beautiful with Vitamin C

We all know that Vitamin C is good for our health as it protects our immune system and helps us fight diseases but did you know that Vitamin C is also loaded with beauty benefits?

Vitamin C’s benefits extend to more than just our body health, it is also loaded with other benefits that will help us look good.

Skin Anti-Aging
Vitamin C helps the body in attaining full production of collagen- a protein that keeps the skin and other organs together, the element that is responsible for our skin’s elasticity and strength, thus, a regular intake of vitamin C equates to a younger and brighter-looking skin.

Vitamin C also helps in the creation of ligaments and scar tissue by reducing the rate of free radicals, thereby slowing the aging process and reduces the visibility of wrinkles, skin dryness and fine lines.

Benefits for Nails
The benefit of Vitamin C doesn’t stop there as the same effect extends to your nails. It helps strengthens the connective tissues that fortifies the nail bed and helps our nail to grow faster. It also prevents hang nails by assisting collagen formation.

Hair health
Vitamin C plays a pivotal role in growing and strengthening our hair as it helps in absorbing Iron – an element that keeps our hair strong and healthy. And as mentioned earlier, it also help absorb collagen that stimulates the hair follicles which helps your hair grow faster.
In achieving the above benefits, an optimum level of Vitamin C is needed

Bewell-C (Sodium Ascorbate) contains all the vitamin C your body needs minus the acidity.  Bewell-C (Sodium Ascorbate) is a non-acidic Vitamin C supplement that is rapidly gaining popularity among the public as a high quality and effective brand. This February, take time to take care of your own appearance and since our hair is on top of our body, it is pertinent that we start with it.

Here are a few tips in maintaining a healthy hair.

·         Observe good hygiene all the time – regularly wash your hair to remove dirt and grimes
·         Be extra careful whenever combing your wet hair – your hair is vulnerable to breakage during this period.
·         Use towel to dry off your hair after shower – Using hair dryer can cause damage to your hair; if you must use the heat then do so sparingly.
·         Eat the proper nutrition- Our hair is also dependent on what we eat. Iron-rich food and protein strengthens your hair.
·         Have enough sleep – Lack of sleep can cause hair loss. Sleeping allows our hair to repair and regenerate. Changes in our sleeping patterns have shown to affect our body’s immune and hormone function, as well as our physical and mental stamina. Our hair is very sensitive to these changes within the body.

Is Your Vitamin C Safe?

The New Year gives us another chance at a fresh start. After the unhealthy lifestyle during the holidays, our immune system is just starting to recuperate and get back to normal. One sure way to speed up its recovery is to take optimum levels of Vitamin C.

But did you know, that when taking Vitamin C, we have to be careful of several factors such as the type and quality of Vitamin C because not all vitamin C are the same!

The most common type of Vitamin C is ascorbic acid. This type of vitamin C has been by far, the cheapest form of Vitamin C, but did you know that when taken at higher quantities, ascorbic acid is not exempted from harmful side effects. Diarrhea, Nausea, Stomach Cramps, Headache, Hyperacidity, Hot flushes and Heartburn are just some of the symptoms of taking too much ascorbic acid.

In the recent decade, Sodium Ascorbate has given the public the safest and most effective type of vitamin C. Bewell-C (Sodium Ascorbate) is a non-acidic Vitamin C supplement that is rapidly gaining popularity among the public as a high quality and effective brand. Bewell-C is the next generation vitamin C that provides all the benefits of vitamin C without the risk of hyperacidity.

Doctors recommend that we take 2 capsules per day of Bewell-C. Some people require a higher dose per day if they are experiencing the following:

Flu:
People suffering from Flu virus are recommended to take 6 capsules of Bewell-C per day and 4 capsules while recovering from flu. Whereas, those who are suffering from colds and cough are recommended to take at least 6 capsules until they have recovered.

Research study also pointed out that most healthy adults get a cold two or three times a year and taking large doses of Vitamin C daily shortens the duration of colds.

Smokers and Alcohol Drinkers
Alcohol, Nicotine and other substance in cigarette causes cell damage and drains vitamins and nutrition from your body.

Smokers and those who often drink alcohol experience lower immune system and are susceptible to various diseases thus, they are required to take at least 4 capsules of Bewell-C to help maintain their health.

Post-Surgery
People who underwent surgery are recommended to take high doses of Vitamin C as much as 6 capsules Bewell-C daily to hasten wound healing. Vitamin C is essential in the formation of new connective tissue in healing wound.

For those who need both Vitamin C and Calcium, Bewell-C plus calcium is also available in the market. Just like Bewell-C, this product also uses non-acidic vitamin C paired with organic calcium fortified with Vitamin D for stronger bones and teeth.

Bewell-C and Bewell-C Plus Calcium is available in all leading drugstores nationwide and on Lazada.com.ph Online Shopping: http://www.lazada.com.ph/bewell-nutraceuticals-corporation/
