No remittance fee for donations to typhoon victims via BDO Remit; BDO Foundation sends relief packs

With the volcanic eruption in January, the pandemic that we are continuously battling, and the series of typhoons that hit the country a few weeks ago, 2020 is definitely not our favorite year.

However, despite these challenges, we still believe that this year is not 100% bad. If we see it through the lens of gratitude, these experiences provided an opportunity for us to step up and help one another. It gave us the opportunity to be a better person and to teach us to be more compassionate and to bring out the best in us as we learn to serve and be of service to our fellow men and woman.

This is not just about individuals or public servants. The private sector, businesses, and corporations have provided huge help in making sure we survive these challenges.

To help its fellow kababayans hit by typhoons "Quinta," "Rolly," and just recently "Ulysses," BDO Remit—the remittance service brand of BDO Unibank—has waived the remittance fee on donations from overseas Filipinos coursed through different foundations.

The zero remittance fee for these donations started last November 4 to December 31, 2020.

"The year 2020 has been very challenging. But we have to recover, and we have to be there for our Kabayans who are in dire need of help. Hopefully, with this, we can encourage more donations from our overseas Filipinos to those adversely affected by the recent typhoons," said BDO senior vice president and remittance head Genie T. Gloria.

Overseas Filipinos may remit their donations free of service fees via any BDO Remit office abroad to BDO Unibank's corporate social responsibility arm, BDO Foundation, Inc., the Philippine Red Cross, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc., and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc.

BDO Remit has nine subsidiary offices outside the Philippines. In Asia, BDO Remit has offices in Macau, Hong Kong, and Japan. In North America, BDO Remit is located in Daly City, USA & in Toronto, Canada while in Europe; BDO Remit has presence in the United Kingdom. For the complete list of addresses, visit bdo.com.ph, go to Remittance Services and click BDO Remit international network.

Meanwhile, BDO Foundation, in coordination with BDO and BDO Network Bank branches, has already begun sending relief packs containing food and drinking water to families hit by Typhoon Ulysses.

This is the latest disaster response initiative BDO Foundation has undertaken. Earlier, it has distributed relief goods to more than 36,000 families hit by Typhoons Pepito, Quinta, and Rolly.

Relief work in Rolly-stricken provinces is still ongoing.

BDO Foundation has already distributed relief packs to almost 11,000 affected families in Albay, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes, the provinces hit hardest by the super typhoon.

In line with its disaster response advocacy, BDO Foundation immediately sent relief packs containing food, rice, and drinking water to more than 14,000 families stricken by Pepito and Quinta in Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Quezon—provinces hit hardest by the typhoons. The corporate citizenship initiative was made possible by officers of BDO and BDO Network Bank branches, who helped gather beneficiary information and identify barangays that needed assistance. Logistical support was provided by local government units and partner non-governmental organizations.

Be inspired with these stories of finding ways despite great uncertainty

The pandemic might have slowed down many businesses in the country, but Maylin Remo Natan knew she had to keep going. She had clients to service, employees to pay, and her own earnings to consider.

But because BDO branches remained operational, Maylin was able to fulfill her duties, making sure that for Trucklane Corporation’s partners, employees, and herself, life did not stop.

According to Maylin's story, because BDO remained open despite the pandemic, she was still able to:

  • Complete her FOREX transaction
  • Cheque encashment
  • Get approval for her business loan
which helped her continue with the business operations. She is also thankful that her relationship manager advised her to set aside some money when business was doing good as she could have never seen the pandemic coming.

BDO Unibank and Network Bank Branches are all open with longer banking hours

It's almost 250 days since the quarantine period started in the Philippines and we can say that this pandemic has definitely changed the way we live. With almost everything shifting to online and digital transactions like e-commerce, webinars, virtual events, and online classes, there are still some things that we have to do offline.

For us, these are bank transactions. Despite the availability of online banking, there are still instances that we need to go to the branch to transact and this is the reason why are happy to know that the branches of BDO Unibank, Inc. and BDO Network Bank are all open to serve more clients.

It is great that BDO is able to keep its products and services within reach amid the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) or Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) guidelines and keeping their promise to find ways for their clients.

When ECQ was declared, BDO strived to keep as many of its branches open while observing health and safety measures. In Luzon, about 130 stayed open in March. This number would more than double to 500 a month later and reach the 800th mark in May. Come June, as more cities were placed in GCQ, 1,000 or nearly all of its Luzon branches have been serving clients.

Meanwhile, in Visayas and Mindanao, all branches remained open.

“We understand the value of having financial access during this challenging time, be it for paying for utilities, loans, or everyday essentials to survive the day. Today, we are operating at a 100% nationwide, thanks to the commitment and resilience of BDO’s 38,000-strong workforce, a true testament to our ‘We Find Ways’ service philosophy,” said Nestor V. Tan, president, and CEO.

While many establishments are still operating on shortened business hours, BDO and BDO Network Bank branches are open until 4:00 pm and ready to accommodate various banking needs, including Forex and encashment requirements.

BDO assures clients that its branch personnel, including its office-based employees undergo regular health checks while its premises are managed under the most stringent safety protocols. Inside every branch, personnel, and clients are required to wear facemasks and face shields at all times, apply hand sanitizers, and observe social distancing.

“We would like to thank our clients for their continued trust in BDO. We remain committed to finding ways for you and your business,” concluded Tan.

Taiwan’s medical power shines in SE Asia, helping Philippine patients regain new lives

The Ministry of Health and Welfare of Taiwan and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) organized recently the “Join hands with Taiwan to create a healthy and happy life” webinar, which was held at the Taipei International Convention Center.

During the meeting, five physicians and experts shared the latest medical technology, treatment methods, and services with regard to bone marrow transplantation, reproductive medicine, depression, cerebrovascular disease, and telemedicine consultation with friends in the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries to offer more treatment options for patients in need. The event attracted around 900 viewers who participated online and were able to see the live broadcast in real-time.

(From Left) Mr. Onag, a patient from the Philippines, Dr. Chi-Cheng Li, Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital,
Dr. Pin-Yao Lin, Lee Women’s Hospital, Ms. Elina H.L. Lee, Executive Vice President, TAITRA,
Mr. Chin-Tang Wang, President, Medicrowd Smarthealth Co., Ltd., Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu, Landseed International Hospital

In her speech, Executive Vice President Elina Lee of TAITRA stated that various countries had recognized Taiwan’s epidemic prevention achievements. To share epidemic prevention information with the international community, TAITRA launched the “Taiwan Global Anti-COVID-19 Pavilion” in June this year. For decades now, Taiwan has already established a sound medical system as it recruited the best medical talents and adapted the best technologies to provide high-quality medical services.

Dr. Chi-Cheng Li, Director of the Center of Stem Cell and Precision Medicine of Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital, said that allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is often the ultimate cure for blood cancer or major blood diseases. Before, two unrelated people have only one in ten thousand chances of matching the bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells. But now, through the “half-matched hematopoietic stem cell transplantation technique,” the possibility of successful matching is as high as 90% in relatives, which significantly improves patients’ survival rate.

For 51-year-old Filipino patient Ronel Onag, who recently returned to the Philippines, he graced the event to share his journey and experience recovering from the “half-matched hematopoietic stem cell transplantation” and shed tears of joy. “I am very grateful to Director Chi-Cheng Li and the medical team at Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital for their care and the factory owner and friends for the initial connection. In September of last year, I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. It was tough to accept my illness. My wife and I felt very sad and helpless. Fortunately, I have now regained my health with everyone’s help.” He also encouraged other patients not to lose hope and stay positive!

Mr. Onag, a patient from the Philippine gave Dr. Chi-Cheng Li of Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital a thank you card

Dr. Pin-Yao Lin, Director of the Department of Reproductive Medicine at Lee Women’s Hospital, shared also a case from the Philippines, Mrs. Li (39 years old). Women who are over 35 and have recurrent miscarriages can improve their embryo implantation rate and pregnancy rate through preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and preimplantation genetic screening (PGS). Mrs. Li also shared her experience of seeking a child through a pre-recorded video. She already experienced two miscarriages before the age of 37 so she decided to undergo PGS for the remaining frozen embryos at the hospital that Dr. Lin recommended. They quickly learned that one of the embryos carry abnormal chromosomes and chose to implant the other two with normal chromosomes to avoid the risk of another miscarriage. She eventually gave birth to twins in 2019 and became a happy mother.

Besides sharing successful cases of superior medical services in Taiwan, the event also invited Cathay General Hospital, Landseed International Hospital, and Medicrowd Smarthealth Co., Ltd. to share psychological and physiological health management and application tools with Chinese people worldwide. Dr. Mao-Xiang Xiao from Cathay General Hospital mentioned a new “r-TMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)” treatment for depression. The repeated and concentrated magnetic pulses stimulate the brain’s emotional management area allowing neurons to release serotonin and other cognitive function hormones to relieve depression.

Dr. Ping-Sheng Lu, the Neuroscience Center of Landseed International Hospital, said that Asians have a higher risk of cerebrovascular disease than Western people. Reports show that the prevalence rate of cerebral aneurysms in Asian adults is 7%, and with the popularity of imaging inspections, more and more early discoveries are made. Also, unruptured aneurysms treatment by transarterial catheterization is minimally invasive compared with traditional craniotomy.

Finally, President Chin-Tang Wang of Medicrowd Smarthealth stated that more than 1,000 cooperative physicians provide telemedicine consulting services online on their medical network. During the epidemic, this service’s utilization rate increased significantly by 47.8%, of which ENT (increased by 135%) and psychology (increased by 41%) were the most significant. President Wang emphasized that digital healthcare is a global trend, and the new coronavirus disease has accelerated this trend. Taiwan’s achievements in epidemic prevention have attracted worldwide attention, and its medical technology is among the world’s best. This is a new opportunity to globalize Taiwan’s medical services, where the online to offline (O2O) integrated “all-customer” service model will be the future of healthcare.

Breakup Manual - Part One

I had the chance to go through my old stuff last weekend as I was trying to declutter before the holidays. I was surprised to find my old "Breakup Manual" that I made around 20 years ago. It was actually a compilation of short stories, poems, and songs that helped me get through when my heart was aching.

I'm happy to share this with you. Unfortunately, I have no information about the source or the names of the original author. In case you have information, kindly let us know so we can give proper attribution for this post.

If you are confused or frustrated with your current relationship because you feel your partner is not "romantic", please continue reading below.

This one is entitled TRUE LOVE.

My husband is an Engineer by profession, I love him for his steady nature, and I love the warm feeling when I lean against his broad shoulders.

Three years of courtship and now, two years into marriage, I would have to admit, that I am getting tired of it. The reasons of me loving him before has now transformed into the cause of all my restlessness.

I am a sentimental woman and extremely sensitive when it comes to a relationship and my feelings, I yearn for the romantic moments, like a little girl yearning for candy. My husband is my complete opposite, his lack of sensitivity and the inability of bringing romantic moments into our marriage has disheartened me about love.

One day, I finally decided to tell him my decision, that I wanted a divorce.

“Why?” he asked, shocked. “I am tired, there are no reasons for everything in the world!” I answered. He kept silent the whole night, seems to be in deep thought with a lighted cigarette at all times. My feeling of disappointment only increased, here was a man who can’t even express his predicament, what else can I hope from him? And finally, he asked me: "What can I do to change your mind?”

Somebody said it right, it’s hard to change a person’s personality, and I guess, I have started losing faith in him. Looking deep into his eyes I slowly answered: “Here is the question, if you can answer and convince my heart, I will change my mind, Let’s say, I want a flower located on the face of a mountain cliff, and we both are sure that picking the flower will cause your death, will you do it for me?” He said:” I will give you your answer tomorrow….” My hopes just sank by listening to his response.

I woke up the next morning to find him gone, and saw a piece of paper with his scratchy handwriting, underneath a milk glass, on the dining table near the front door, that goes…. My dear, “I would not pick that flower for you, but please allow me to explain the reasons further..” This first line was already breaking my heart. I continued reading.

“When you use the computer you always mess up the Software programs, and you cry in front of the screen, I have to save my fingers so that I can help to restore the programs.

You always leave the house keys behind, thus I have to save my legs to rush home to open the door for you. You love traveling but always lose your way in a new city, I have to save my eyes to show you the way.

You always have the cramps whenever your “good friend” approaches every month, I have to save my palms so that I can calm the cramps in your tummy.

You like to stay indoors, and I worry that you will be infected by infantile autism. I have to save my mouth to tell you jokes and stories to cure your boredom.

You always stare at the computer, and that will do nothing good for your eyes, I have to save my eyes so that when we grow old, I can help to clip your nails, and help to remove those annoying white hairs. So I can also hold your hand while strolling down the beach, as you enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful sand… and tell you the color of flowers, just like the color of the glow on your young face.

Thus, my dear, unless I am sure that there is someone who loves you more than I do… I could not pick that flower yet, and die.. ”

My tears fell on the letter, and blurred the ink of his handwriting… and as I continue on reading…

“Now, that you have finished reading my answer, if you are satisfied, please open the front door for I am standing outside bringing your favorite bread and fresh milk…"

I rush to pull open the door, and saw his anxious face, clutching tightly with his hands, the milk bottle and loaf of bread.

JBL Strengthens Audio Expertise with Enhanced Line of Headphones and Speakers

"Turn up the volume. Close your eyes and let the music take over your soul." - Anonymous

A name to recall when it comes to audio expertise, JBL, a brand under Harman, has brought in the Philippines the latest addition in its wide array of home audio and personal audio offerings.

Val and I have been using JBL for over 10 years and can personally attest to its excellent performance and why it's worth every penny to invest in a good headphone or speaker. When you use the JBL brand, you'll see the difference as you enjoy music on a whole new level. As an online professional and freelancer, I also have a better audio experience whenever I am in a meeting and I don't really mind wearing it for a long time since it's really comfortable.

Thus, we can't help but be excited when they launched their new offerings.

JBL PartyBox On-the-Go: Take the party with you

A year after JBL first introduced the JBL PartyBox 1000, a powerful, bass-heavy party speaker with easy plug-and-play guitar input plus an illuminated DJ launchpad with built-in sound effects comes the JBL PartyBox On-the-Go, a portable version with improved audio features.

The JBL PartyBox On-the-Go appeals to the karaoke-loving Filipinos as this portable party speaker come with two JBL wireless microphones with a 10-meter range good for sing-along sessions with family and friends. Similar to its siblings in the JBL PartyBox line, it delivers music with a powerful bass courtesy of JBL’s 100W Pro Signature Sound that’s complemented with a synchronized light show and carries the same plug-n-play mic and guitar inputs.

Since it’s designed for users to take the party anywhere they go, the JBL PartyBox On-the-Go has IPX4 splash-proof protection making it the ideal audio buddy for beach and poolside parties. What makes the JBL PartyBox On-the-Go even more interesting as a party speaker is its shoulder strap which has a bottle opener attached to it.

The JBL PartyBox On-the-Go also offers continuous and convenient music playback with its 6-hour battery life and Bluetooth and USB port music sources.

The JBL PartyBox On-the-Go retails for P20,999 and will be available by the end of 2020.

JBL PartyBox 310: Portable party machine

Another addition under JBL’s PartyBox line is the JBL PartyBox 310, a bigger variant of the JBL PartyBox On-the-Go. While the JBL PartyBox On-the-Go has a strap for easy portability, the JBL PartyBox 310 has wheels and a handle for smooth transport.

Leave it to the JBL PartyBox 310 to spice up any party with its 240 watts of JBL Pro Sound delivered through its two 2.5-inch tweeters and two 6.5-inch woofers. Its synchronized party lights have five modes that can be customized through the JBL Connect app, and its buttons are backlit to allow easy DJ control even in the dark.

The JBL PartyBox 310 also comes with dual-mic and guitar inputs, in addition to its Bluetooth and USB inputs. Users can also wirelessly connect two JBL PartyBox 310 for a combined sound through its True Wireless Stereo feature. For durability, JBL has equipped the PartyBox 310 with IPX4 splashproof protection.

The JBL PartyBox 310 is now available in the market at P28,999.

JBL Xtreme 3: Never run out of music

JBL has likewise launched in the Philippines the upgraded JBL Xtreme 3 which now has four improved drivers plus two JBL Bass Radiators, providing a powerful sound in a sleek form factor.

This speaker has a 15-hour battery life and comes with a built-in power bank which can simultaneously charge devices through its USB-C power input. Its Bluetooth v5.1 feature allows up to two devices to be connected to the JBL Xtreme 3 to take turns in playing their favorite tunes delivered with JBL Pro Sound.

JBL Go 3: Small package, big sound

The well-loved JBL Go speaker also has a new version in the form of the JBL Go 3, a pocket-sized portable speaker that doesn’t compromise in audio performance. Veering away from the previous straightforward cube design of the JBL Go and the JBL Go 2 variants, the JBL Go 3 now has a rectangular form factor with rounded edges dressed in a mesh outer cover for added aesthetics and protection, on top of its IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating.

This petite yet powerful speaker can deliver non-stop music with punchy bass, clear mids, and outstanding highs for five hours straight through its Bluetooth v5.1 connection. Also an upgrade from the previous JBL Go speakers are the inclusion of a USB-C connection for faster and steadier charging.

The JBL Go 3 retails for P2,399 and will be available by mid-November.

JBL BoomBox 2: A blast from the past

JBL’s own take on a symbol of music from the past, the JBL BoomBox 2 is designed reminiscent of cassette tape-bearing portable music players with a futuristic take not just on its outer look but also on its audio performance. The JBL BoomBox 2 is the loudest BoomBox JBL has made to date,  and this can be proven with its monstrous bass.

This speaker offers 24-hour music playback and allows users to charge their devices with its built-in power bank. Just like most JBL speakers, the JBL BoomBox 2 is compatible with the JBL PartyBoost mode which means users can connect more JBL speakers for an all-out music-filled party. Apart from the portable speakers, loyal JBL fans and customers in the Philippines can now also enjoy the much-awaited premium line of JBL headphones, the JBL CLUB Series comprised of the JBL CLUB ONE, JBL CLUB 950NC, and the JBL CLUB 700BT.

The firm has come a long way to meet the preferences of TWS users and this is evident in their latest line of TWS devices which carry functions not just for a hassle-free listening experience but also with the signature JBL sound.

First on the list of the new true wireless earphones to be available in the local market is the JBL 115TWS. Have you seen the "Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat" campaign? Here's what it's all about...

Private Sector launches Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat campaign
for consumer confidence and economic recovery

As the Philippines continues to battle the impact of COVID-19, brands and companies across various industries have banded together to help restart the economy while ensuring consumers’ health and safety

The group launches “Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat” campaign, which sends a message of resilience, hope and inspiration to boost businesses to continue to increase operations while ensuring strict safety standards and to encourage Filipinos to once again enjoy activities outside the confines of their homes.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon M. Lopez praises this initiative and stresses the importance for businesses to unite in order to win back the confidence of consumers and get the economy back on its feet.

“At this point in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, balancing health and the economy is our main priority. This is why we are pushing for the gradual and safe reopening of the economy. In line with the spirit of the campaign, we can only move forward by supporting and keeping one another safe while protecting lives and livelihoods,” Sec. Lopez said.

The trade chief also stressed the importance of strictly following minimum health protocols despite the eased restrictions in the “New Normal” to avoid transmission of the virus while restimulating demand and consumer spending.

The Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat campaign is part of the private sector’s support for Taskforce T3 (Test, Trace, Treat), the multi-sector initiative put together in April 2020 to work closely with the Department of Health (DOH), the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19, and the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to manage the outbreak of the pandemic in the country. With the reopening of the economy, the group realized the importance of rebuilding consumer confidence with health and safety still a priority.

Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Chairman and CEO of Ayala Corporation, a founding partner of TaskForce T3, underscored the importance of continued public-private sector cooperation. “The private sector has found a new front where we can be supportive of the fight against COVID, and that is in restoring the confidence of our citizens that we can all resume our lives and livelihoods, so long as we strictly follow the minimum health standards recommended by health experts.”

Margot Torres, Managing Director for McDonald’s Philippines and Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat communications advocacy co-lead, expressed her faith in the Filipinos’ resilience and optimism.

“Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat aims to transform the mindset of consumers. We are breaking through the helplessness many felt at the height of the pandemic and helping lead Filipinos to empowered vigilance and continued safety during this period,” Torres said.

The campaign has already obtained the support of the biggest corporations and brands in the country, including Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Alliance Global Group (Megaworld, Resorts World, Emperador), Jollibee Foods Corporation, McDonald’s Philippines, Goldilocks, BDO, BPI, Metrobank, Paymaya, Alaska, Champion, Century Pacific Food Inc., Coca Cola Philippines, Oishi LIwayway Marketing Corp., PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble Philippines, RFM Corporation, Unilever, Petron/San Miguel Corporation, Shell, Ayala Malls, Filinvest Development Corporation, Robinsons Malls, SM Supermalls, Globe Telecom, Smart Communications, Angkas and Food Panda.

The Ingat Angat media partners include CNN Philippines, GMA, Kapamilya Channel, KBP (Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas), Philippine Daily Inquirer, The Philippine Star, Solar Entertainment Corporation, TV5, Tiger 22, Facebook, Lazada, Shopee, Viber , Phar Partnerships; and LED OOH and Transit Outdoor partners Activations Advertising Inc. (AAI), Dooh.ph, Globaltronics, Krazy Media Ads Solution, Luneta Advertising, Nyxsys Philippines, Out of Home Advertising Association of the Philippines (OHAAP), Steel Art, Summit Outdoor Media and United Neon (UN).

Agency partners include Bookt, Cobena, EON, HIT Productions, Nuworks, Omnicom Media Group, Pabrika, PSRC, Slingshot, Synergy, TBWA/Santiago Mangada Puno, and Viva Entertainment, Inc., while the press launch event partners include Savoy Hotel Manila and Mercato Centrale.

Greater participation needed

Another lead proponent of Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat, Angkas’ Chief Transport Advocate George Royeca, calls on more companies, especially small and medium enterprises, to get on board with Ingat Angat.

“This campaign is for all businesses – not only the big brands, but more so for small and medium enterprises. We invite all businesses from all over the country to participate and embrace this advocacy. Let us all help each other get back on our feet safely and surely,” Royeca says.

The creative idea behind the campaign and its memorable tagline of Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat were crafted by the geniuses of TBWA/Santiago Mangada Puno’s Managing Partner and Chief Creative Officer Melvin Mangada.

“The tagline and the supporting visual brands and materials, which can be adapted by any brand, help promote the message of Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat, creating a sense of solidarity with the whole business community and our consumers,” Mangada explains. These visual aids include branding guidelines, logos and templates that business groups can download and adapt to their operations.

We can help the country get back on its feet by supporting and keeping one another safe.

How to apply for a DOST Coursera Scholarship

UPDATE: 75,000 DOST & Coursera Grant licenses are fully filled-up!

After watching the video of Nas Daily a few days ago, I realized that we are in a serious situation because of the pandemic
. We have to be careful for the next couple of years in order to survive. The economic recession is just starting. More and more people are losing their jobs and businesses are continuously shutting down. In reality, some jobs are simply not coming back.

Nas said that it is important that we must spend our free time on education.  Get a skill that can make money fast. Businesses will hire people with internet skills. People who know how to edit videos, people who know how to run Facebook ads, build websites or create a sales funnel.

Thus, I am happy to share that the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-Caraga) is offering a DOST Coursera grant to all Filipinos nationwide. Yes, even if you are not from the Caraga region, you can still take advantage of this grant.

If you are not familiar with Coursera, it is an online course provider founded in 2012 that features different courses from top universities like Yale, Michigan, Stanford, and leading companies like Google and IBM.

Normally, these are paid courses but once you qualify for the DOST Coursera grant, you can take these courses absolutely FREE until December 31, 2020.

Some of the courses available are:
  • Facebook Social Media Marketing
  • What is Data Science
  • Psychological First Aid
  • First Step Korean
  • Fundamentals of Graphic Design
  • Design Thinking for Innovation
  • Fundamentals of Project Planning and Management
  • Supply Chain Logistics
These are self-paced courses which means that you can take them during your free time. So even if you have an 8-5 job, you can still apply. This is also 100% online so you can join from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.

If you are interested, you can apply here: http://bit.ly/ApplyDOSTCoursera

Once again, you don't have to pay anything. The only thing we'd like to ask from you is to SHARE THIS POST so, that we can reach more Filipinos and help them acquire the necessary skills to adapt in these current times. The deadline for application is on October 31, 2020. After that, DOST won't be able to accept applicants anymore.

I have been an online freelancer for more than 5 years and I just feel that my experience is not enough. This is the main reason why I availed of this scholarship grant. We should not stop learning and instead let us invest in ourselves as we continue to grow.

One more thing... Most courses come with a certificate so, this can also help you as if you are building your portfolio and credentials.

Don't miss this opportunity! Just send your application via this link: http://bit.ly/ApplyDOSTCoursera today. Limited slots only.

Good luck and please comment below if you have sent your application!
