Entering your credit card in any online portal is scary nowadays. No matter how much they say that the site is secured, I am still not willing to do so. That is why I always prefer to pay via COD or Dragonpay whenever I go online shopping.
But verifying paypal accounts is another story. In order to secure your paypal account, one is asked to verify the account by confirming your email address and adding a debit or credit card that is going to linked to the account.
According to PayPal, verification increases the security of the payment network for sellers and buyers. Verification gives PayPal additional evidence of a member's identity, this will inform others that you have completed the process.
Since it is an absolute rule for me not to use credit cards online, I researched for a way to verify my paypal account without the use of a credit card and I ended up using the BPI e-prepaid card.

BPI e-prepaid card is a reloadable Mastercard that you can get for Php 500 and is valid for 2 years. (Though I got mine for only Php 350 via a promotion in Ensogo) One can apply online to get the card and after 5-7 days you can pick up the card in your preferred BPI branch.
Once you have the card, you just have to login to your paypal account and click the unverified link and follow the instructions.
It is important that the name of the card and the PayPal account name is exactly the same. Thus, it is not an option to use someone else's card.
So, go ahead and get verified. It is our responsibility to do our part in securing the network since there are a lot of bad things happening in the online community. You may read about my Paypal hacking incident, here.
