'WORST Experience of being a Dog Owner' - Hope this will not happen to you!

'Deciding whether to euthanize your dog or not' is the WORST experience any fur parent will have. 

If you are new to my blog, Crumpy is my 18-year-old furbaby. Due to old age, his health has been declining for the past few months. The normal life span of his breed is just 12-15 years old so, somehow you know that he is nearing the end. We have been working with our vet for the past few months but sadly, there is just so much we can do. Despite all the interventions and care, we do not see any improvements. He is not sick with a disease or fatal illness like parvo, etc. but his body functions are slowly shutting down. It is only a miracle that can save us now.

Our vet is PRO-life and I am happy that we are aligned in keeping Crumpy as comfortable as possible, however, being so helpless seeing your loved one suffer --  you will want to try and do everything. So, we visited another vet for a second opinion and to see if there is still anything else we can do for Crumpy.

Then, I heard the most painful medical advice -- it's time you euthanize your dog. 

The doctor is brutally frank and had been trying to convince us that it is the right thing to do. However, I can't find the courage in my heart to make the decision. 

Am I being selfish? Am I just prolonging his suffering? What if there is still a chance? (If you read the book, The Choice by Nicholas Sparks, it will teach you to never lose hope even if there is zero chance of survival.) 

And to tell you -- I honestly don't have answers. I am lost and this is just the worst. I wish no one will have to go through what I am going through right now.

So, if you are a fur parent, spend time with your dogs. Hug them and let them know that you love them so much. We have our friends, jobs, hobbies, gadgets, etc. but our dogs, they only have us. Their lives revolve solely around us. 

After all, your dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.
