All Day Supermarket Bacolod is now open and THEY DELIVER!

The delivery services here in Bacolod are outstanding. I mean almost all essentials can be delivered and this made it possible for us to literally stay at home for more than a year already. You can read our quarantine story, here

It also helped that we have local online communities just like the Bacolod Food and Supply Sources that allowed us to meet local sellers (individuals and establishments) to help us source food, essentials, and other needs without going out of the house. By simply commenting or sending a private message, you can readily place an order and arrange delivery

Thus, if you are from Bacolod or nearby areas, feel free to join the community.

Truly, online shopping and delivery service is a big part of our lives now and this is why we are excited to share that All Day Supermarket Bacolod is now open and THEY DELIVER!

We were able to try their service twice and here are 5 things that we loved about All Day Supermarket - Bacolod

1. They carry hard-to-find products. All Day Supermarket sells imported goods such as ice cream, snacks, nuts (Wonderful Pistachios), drinks (Dr. Pepper, A&W Rootbeer), and many more. Since we don't have Landers and SnR in Bacolod then this is a good option.

If you have been following me, you'll know that I have been looking for Century Tuna Bangus Belly here in Bacolod for quite some time and finally I was able to find it here. Delimondo Corned Beef Caldereta is also another one.

If you are not a fan of dried fish that are exposed/ sold in the public market, they also have prepacked dried fish which is really meaty and delicious.

If you are planning to have a Korean BBQ night, this is the best place to get what you need as they have quality meats, soju, kimchi, etc.

They also have a wine section that offers many choices. Yay!

2. The fresh/ meat section is great. The meat section has a wide selection of fresh meat. Quite pricey but prime and good cuts are available. They also carry zucchini, celery, different herbs that are not so easy to find. One concern that I have when online shopping is that I don't get to pick the vegetables myself but with All Day Supermarket, we are happy with the quality.

3. They offer same-day delivery.  They deliver the same day even if you order late. I think the cutoff is 6pm. Based on our experience, we ordered around 4pm and we got our groceries around 7pm.

4. Different payment options. You can pay via Credit/ Debit Card, GCASH, and Bank Transfers or you can opt for Cash on Delivery. If you are paying via GCASH, all you need to do is ask for a QR code.

5. Personalized Service. Even if I order directly from the website, I love that I still get to talk to a live person regarding my order. You can contact them via Viber. Their staff is really friendly and helpful. (Special shoutout to Joanne who had been assisting me ever since!)

So, in case you are interested to order from ALL DAY SUPERMARKET. All you need to do is go to their website, https://www.allday.com.ph/

Don't forget to use AD8DELIVERY to get free delivery for a minimum purchase of Php 2,000. This is valid until August 31, 2021.

Unfortunately, no matter how simple this dream is. Many are still unable to afford to buy their dream home. Ordinary workers who are having a hard time making ends meet feel that this dream is quite remote and impossible.

If you are from Bacolod, Lumina Homes adds more delight to the City of Smiles as it builds its newest community on the eastern part of Bacolod City.

This site is just a drive away from Bantug Lake Ranch, a recreational development that houses scenic waterfront and various leisure activities. You can enjoy adventures like horseback riding, boating, and fishing in just a quick drive. The proposed project is also just a couple of minutes away from other fun and enjoying places like Campuestuhan Highland Resort, Guerrero Farm and Nature Park, Melba’s Farm Guest House, and other popular commercial and business facilities.

It is also remarkably convenient and accessible as the main roads have ongoing road-widening projects that will make the site closer to the New Government Center and the New Silay-Bacolod International Airport.

Do you want to be a part of Shopee's Global Leaders Program?

As more Filipinos turn to online platforms for their daily needs, the e-commerce industry continues to take on a greater significance in people’s lives. With the rapid growth of the business sector, there is also an increasing demand for tech talents in the country and globally. According to the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippine internet economy will be worth 28 Billion US dollars by 2025, highlighting the need for the right talent to push this growth forward.

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, nurtures and prepares students and professionals for e-commerce through its various tech training and e-commerce apprenticeship programs, such as the Shopee Global Leaders Program (GLP).

The Shopee Global Leaders Program, launched in 2018, is a 2-year graduate program consisting of four 6-month local and overseas rotations designed for highly enthusiastic and ambitious young Filipino talents. Participants will help drive Shopee’s campaigns and new initiatives by working with local and overseas teams. They will gain eye-opening experiences, regional exposure and contribute to the expansion of Shopee across the region. Participants will be part of a structured learning and development program and receive dedicated mentorship from Shopee leaders.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “As the need for tech talents rises, Shopee will continue to equip future leaders with the proper e-commerce knowledge through different kinds of training and apprenticeships like the Global Leaders Program. We will ramp up our efforts to provide proper mentorship and an immersive learning experience to all participants of this program. As a mentor myself, I have worked with a lot of promising participants and I look forward to working with the next batch of aspiring tech leaders who choose to join this program.”

Who are eligible to join?
  • Fresh graduates with a good bachelor or master's degree in any discipline with less than 2 years of full-time working experience

  • Mentorship and Development
  • Strategic and Regional Exposure
  • Rigorous Training Curriculum
  • Highlighly Impactful and Meaningful Projects
  • Enriching #LifeatShopee Experience
Application is open until March 14, 2021.

Participants of the Global Leaders Program highlighted how they gained significant professional and personal growth, which will help them excel in their careers in the e-commerce industry.

For Anton, the Global Leaders Program was a vibrant and immersive experience. “Before the pandemic, we were able to go abroad and meet our fellow GLP participants in the other regions and participate in training sessions to hone our leadership skills further. Besides the international training opportunity, I have also been able to work on many impactful projects and initiatives across different departments within Shopee Philippines. Most of all, I appreciate the many mentorship opportunities I’ve had with my Shopee managers,” Anton shared.

Samantha, on the other hand, describes her GLP experience as enriching and packed with learning. “In two years, we get to immerse ourselves in four different teams, which widens our perspectives and pushes us to be more agile as we switch roles every six months. GLP provides opportunities to create impact in the industry and to see Shopee from multiple lenses through different departments, which I believe will help to develop our sense of the industry quite quickly,” Samantha added.

Anton is currently with the program while Samantha just concluded her stint with GLP. Both are now with Shopee as full-time employees. “I consider Shopee as a top choice when it comes to finding a company to join in the e-commerce and digital marketing industry. Many young and bright individuals in the company have exciting and innovative new ideas that make our work fun and interesting,” Anton said.

“Life at Shopee is fast-paced and full of learning opportunities. Shopee fosters a collaborative environment and it is a privilege to work with colleagues who live out our core values,” Samantha added. “If you want an experience that will help you grow both personally and professionally in a holistic manner, Shopee’s Global Leaders Program is the way to go. I think it’s a good and commendable training program for young professionals who want to experience e-commerce fully.”

Ito Ang Araw Mo: Inspiring You to Continue Pursuing Your Dreams

Do you feel that your life was put on hold because of the current situation?

Were all your plans canceled? Your dreams put on the side?

Did you feel that you took a step backward in your achieving your goals?

If you said yes to any of the questions above and you feel uninspired or lost, I don't really blame you. What you feel is valid. After all, nobody expected to experience a pandemic in their lifetime. However, this does not mean that we stop living because of the current situation. There might be no clear end-in-sight but we are not helpless nor hopeless. Instead, it is time to unleash our creativity and resourcefulness to adapt succesfully to the new normal. I remember one of the famous quotes of Tony Robbins "Every problem is a gift. Without problems, we would not grow."

So, let us take this opportunity to grow. The world is rooting for you and there are a lot of people willing to support you.

Just like Sun Life Philippines' latest campaign, "Ito ang Araw Mo,  where they aim to rally and inspire Millennials to hit the restart button on their dreams.

Through this new digital campaign, it will prompt millennials just like you and me to claim a new beginning in their journey towards a brighter future.

The campaign launches on March 8 with a digital video highlighting the unique experiences of today’s generation, such as graduating in a virtual ceremony, exploring gaming as a career, pursuing online entrepreneurship, and starting a new family in extraordinary times. It will be posted on Sun Life’s social media assets,
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to ignite the Millennials’ motivation to chase after their personal pursuits.

The “Ito ang Araw Mo” campaign takes inspiration from the pursuits of the Millennials who are keen on building their career, growing their wealth, and finding self-enrichment amid the pandemic.

“The times we are in may have pushed Millennials to put their goals on hold, but it also brought out their creativity, resourcefulness, and an undeniable spirit. They are well equipped to fulfill all their dreams, even as they navigate their way in a new environment,” Sun Life Chief Marketing and Client Experience Officer Gilbert Simpao said. “It all begins with recognizing the start of this new chapter in their lives, taking control of what they can accomplish today while working on their bigger goals in the future with Sun Life as their partner.”

To inspire and enable them with specific actionable to-dos, Sun Life will also hold an interactive workshop entitled “Build Bright Habits to Reach Your Goals” on March 20, 10am, featuring international author, speaker, and life coach Dr. Christine Carter and AHA! Behavioral Design Managing Director TJ Agulto.

These bright habits on self-improvement, relationships, and personal finance will be reinforced through a Facebook community where they can avail of mini mentorship programs, weekly challenges, and exclusive promos in the company of their fellow goal-achievers.

Those ready to craft their financial plans and be experts in handling their money are encouraged to seek the help of a Sun Life advisor, who can help them create a financial roadmap that matches their needs and will put them in a better position to make their plans a reality. “Ito Ang Araw Mo” updates and other relevant information will be posted on Sun Life’s various online platforms for those who wish to take part in the activities and for those looking for added inspiration.

"There may have been a tremendous shift in our lives, but Millennials have the power to realize their goals and aspirations. It can start today,” Simpao said. “Ito ang araw nila, and it would be Sun Life’s honor to be their partner for life in this journey.”

Why is Philhealth the ONLY Government Entity Without an Online Payment Facility for Voluntary Members?

UPDATE: Philhealth now has an online payment system for self-paying individuals.

2020 was the year where most businesses, institutions, and organizations have shifted to online or digital platforms. Online classes were implemented. E-commerce has taken a huge leap and the use of digital wallets such as GCASH, Paymaya, and other online payment facilities has never been this popular.

These initiatives and lifestyle changes took place as a response to the government's and health experts' call to stay at home and avoid unnecessary trips. So, this made me wonder Why is Philhealth the ONLY Government Entity Without an Online Payment Facility for Voluntary Members?

For weeks, I have been researching how I can pay my voluntary contribution to Philhealth without going out of the house, and sad to say, I had no luck finding one. We haven't gone out for over a year (literally!) and that's how serious we are about staying at home so, going to the nearest Philhealth office is not a good option for us.

I was able to read about the Moneygment app but based on the latest update, it is currently available.

According to Philhealth's website, they have several accredited service partners who accept online payment however, when we checked it seems that these are for corporate accounts/ employers as it has been asking for a corporate/ company code, corporate name, etc.

Given that is attached to the Department of Health, do you think it should be one of the key agencies looking after our welfare and safety?

Do you think they should be the first institution to offer these online services so that people so, that it is possible for people to follow their advice to stay at home?

For now, I still have no clue how and where I can pay my Philhealth contribution without leaving our house. If you know a way on how to make an online payment for Philhealth, please share it in the comments below. It would mean a lot to me. Thank you! :)

Hope in a Box: Get your own limited edition merchandise from Davao's Top Fashion and Design Creatives and Artisans

by Jon J. Nuñez

When the health crisis hit the country almost a year ago, among the most affected are the communities of artisans in the different parts of Davao region. Most of these creative people are members of the lumads or ethnic tribes of Region XI.

Unknown to many, the Davao Fashion and Design Council (DFDC) have been partnering with these artistic folks by way of commissioning their weavers, beaders, and sewers to create world-class creations that are a big hit around the country and even globally.

Alas, the pandemic came, the fashion industry is among the first to be told to cancel events as it would entail the gathering of crowds-- such as fashion shows and exhibits. Thus, the Philippine Fashion Coalition (PFC) headed by Manila fashion directors, designers, models, and behind the scenes production staff, have been doing fundraising drives ever since last year. This time, through the partnership of DFDC, comes the Box of Hope

By supporting this project, we can help the displaced creatives and artisans of the fashion industry, especially the community of sewers, beaders, and weavers. For every purchase of Box of Hope, you help put food on the table for the family. A Box of Hope consists of a Kadayawan Bomber Jacket, 3 Kadayawan Masks, and a limited edition Araw Brooch for only Php 10,000.

To order please send a private message to DFDC designers Edgar Buyan, Dodjie Batu, Emi Englis, or Benjie Panizales.

We would appreciate if you can share this post. Thank you for your support!

Davao City Water District is now available in GCASH

While everyone is encouraged to stay at home, bills payment has been one of the major concerns during the quarantine. Thus, a lot of companies especially utility companies offered online payment services to address the needs of their customers.

Unfortunately, this is not the case for all. There were still some companies including the Davao City Water District that do not have the online option thus, customers are still forced to go out in order to pay while waiting for the availability of online payment options.

But the good news is the long wait is over ---> Davao City Water District will be available on GCASH starting January 26, 2021. This means that DCWD customers can now pay their bills online.

To pay, just open your GCASH app, under PAY BILLS > WATER UTILITIES, and look for DAVAO CITY WATER DISTRICT. Then input the following:

✅ Valid mobile number

If you don't have GCASH yet, you may download the app via this link: https://gcsh.app/r/r7p8nsm

More than that, this is also a chance for us to pay tribute to those at the frontlines in our battle against the pandemic and various calamities. We look forward to bringing some yuletide cheer into everyone’s homes. Looking for a bank that fits the Japanese standards?

When Japanese entrepreneur Mr. Hayato Yazaki came to the Philippines to set up his business, he looked for a bank that fits the Japanese standards for a good partner. Mr. Yazaki runs Izumi Global, an education company that provides after-school learning using the Nippon Math method for children ages 3-11 years old. It also provides licensing and has more than 10 branches.

Mr. Yazaki asked from among the Japanese community in Makati about the local banks, so he could choose one that fits his needs. After picking out one Philippine bank, he started his relationship with it by opening a personal bank account. This was so he could experience for himself whether or not the bank lives up to its reputation.

Trust and reliability, he said, are very important. These values are part of the Japanese mindset and are considered crucial when engaging in a long-term commitment. Mr. Yazaki, however, added he goes beyond these considerations, as he also looks into speed, overall performance, even the personality and attitude of the people he deals with.

The bank he chose was BDO. Mr. Yazaki said that he appreciates BDO customer service in the Philippines. “Ms. Lyn Lazona and Ms. Hiromi Shimoda of the Japan Help Desk are always a message away. If we have questions or asked for a meeting, they are always quick and willing to oblige. I think being under the Japan Help Desk really made the service speedy and convenient for us since they know Japanese expectations and requirements.”

A reliable partner during the lockdown

When the pandemic struck and the quarantines and lockdowns were imposed, Izumi Global faced a lot of challenges. They had to quickly convert to online classes as children are not allowed to go out. The company also had to consider their licensees/franchisees, whose income also depends on their support.

To answer the needs of both their students and franchisees, Izumi Global had to secure a shipment of educational materials. Mr. Yazaki didn’t think this was still possible due to the constraints brought about by lockdown but to his surprise, BDO’s Ms. Lyn went out of her way to help him secure the shipment. “We were expecting that the documents would be delivered through courier. Instead, Ms. Lyn went through that extra effort that meant a lot to us. If no one assisted us with the requirements, the shipment will be abandoned and we cannot get our study materials. We almost had to cancel the online program for the students.”

According to Mr. Yazaki, his bank made sure that even during the lockdown, their transactions proceeded at a nearly normal pace. While some transactions were a bit slower, they made up for it with convenience by shifting the processes online. For him, the confidence he places on BDO and their relationship is well-deserved and meets his exacting ideals as a Japanese client.

Crisis or not: Cash Management Services help business thrive during pandemic

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) serve as the lifeblood of the economy. Thus, support for these enterprises is essential to keep the economy going.

One of these businesses is that of Alex Ong, who operates Transorient Container Terminal Services (TCTS), a customs bonded warehouse, and trucking service. Essentially, TCTS acts as an extension of port storage services outside of the ports themselves.

Mr. Alex Ong, who owns Transorient Container Terminal Services (TCTS), said BDO’s cash management services allowed his company to continue its operations despite quarantines.

Knowing how valuable it is to ensure smooth and speedy operations, Alex applied for BDO Unibank’s Cash Management Services’ (CMS) suite of offerings, including SME Business Online Banking.  This helped TCTS run smoothly and continue operations despite the disruptions caused by movement restrictions and social distancing regulations, resulting from the pandemic.

Essential business partners

Ong points out that during a crisis, like what happened when the pandemic hit and the government was forced to declare an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), it is vital for essential businesses to work together.   In the case of TCTS, the help it got from BDO allowed the company to continue its operations.

Ong said that he was very concerned about their messengers who still had to go to banks and other premises to collect or deliver checks so he instructed his staff to shift to online transactions.

Employees of TCTS observe healthy and safety protocols to ease the spread of COVID-19.

His next dilemma was how to continue operating as close to normal as possible. According to Ong, BDO’s cash management services allowed him to resolve both the issue of safety and business continuity, as his company was able to make payments to shipping lines, port management companies, suppliers, and other billers using BDO's e-payment facility.

"ICTSI made it mandatory for clients to pay online. So it's good that we already have the SME Business Online Banking facility of BDO," Ong explained. Soon, he hopes to activate the online collection facility so that TCTS would be able to collect payments online as well, from their consignees.

Relying on CMS

Cash Management Services involves managing the flow of funds in an organization or business. Every business has collection and payment needs which if not managed may cause funds to be misplaced, lost, or untracked.

A CMS provider becomes a key partner in terms of assistance in the management, tracking, and reporting of funds so he can focus on running the business.

In the case of Alex Ong, it was easier for them to adapt to BDO’s cash management services because they were already transacting online with the port management companies. TCTS is a good example of how openness to change, new technologies, and new processes can benefit a business.  It also shows that having the right bank partner helped them thrive during a crisis.
